Ferralloy Motorsports Update Archive
First Season’s Karting Results
Well….the season is over! Steven had a real good year racing in “Rookie Gas”, considering he did not make the first few races of the season. In addition 3 others including yesterday were rained out just before the heat races began. Steven came in 6th place for his class, with 8 races run. Everyone else in front of him had 10 and that had an impact on his finishing position.
Final results: Out of 8 races he had 2 thirds, a second and a first place!
Two weeks ago he ran in a race in Fremont, Ohio – just outside Bowling Green. This regional “Shoot-out” was comprised of class members from Fremont, Barberton and Thompson – his home track. Steven placed third in that race and ran some of his best lap times of the year.
Last week he earned his first “Checkered Flag” by coming in First Place! Pretty exciting race considering he had a bad start and was in 6th after the first turn. He battled back and drove his best race of the year!
The off-season will involve having his engine rebuilt and getting his kart set up for his Nationally Sanctioned Alcohol Class next year. The first race will be in March at Daytona Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida followed by Lowe’s Motorspeedway in Charlotte, North Carolina. In the spring and summer he will be racing in Indianapolis and New Carlisle, Indiana, Detroit, Pittsburgh, Chicago and other tracks in the Midwest region.
Steven Habansky Continues With Impressive Racing
Record
Steven Habansky recently had his best outing of the year. In his
4th race of the season, Steven won one of the two qualifiers and
placed second in the feature race, only .20 second behind the winner.
Steven Habansky Excels On The Track and Brings
Home Trophy
Steven Habansky captured his first trophy on Sunday July 25th. After
250 miles of practice and two races behind him, Steven raced from
his start in 9th position (rookies must start in the rear) to an
incredible third place finish. His fastest lap time was better than
the points leaders and the two boys who came in 1st & 2nd that
day.
The wet spring and early summer along with prior scheduled family
events have prevented Steven from seeing more actual racing action,
however the next 2 ½ months will be busy. He will be racing
in a night race Saturday August 7th, and we have plans to build
an alcohol fuel engine and race at the newly rebuilt Mansfield International
Speedway – home of a Nextel Cup Truck race.
