Types

  • Cold Forged Steel – the process is done under temperatures up to 160 ºC.  Typically, the low temperature will account for a smoother surface finish.
  • Hot Forged Steel – the temperature for this technique ranges from 900 ºC to 1300 ºC. The temperature is often above recrystallization to produce materials with good formability.
  • Hardened Forged Steel – the temperature ranges from 750ºC to 950ºC. The materials produced are more versatile but have limited ductility.
